YouTube MPC (Chrome Extension)

This privacy policy explains how the YouTube MPC Chrome Extension ("the Extension") handles user data.

Data Storage: The Extension uses Chrome's local storage (chrome.storage.local) to save your settings. This includes your saved timestamps (cues), bank names, playback mode preferences, and enable/disable status for each bank. This data is stored only on your local computer within your Chrome profile and is never transmitted to any external server or third party. The Save/Load Bank feature allows you to manually export/import this data as a local file, but this is initiated entirely by you.

Page Interaction: To function, the Extension needs to interact with the content of YouTube pages you visit. It does this to:

• Detect keyboard presses (specifically Numpad keys and modifiers) for core functionality.

• Control the YouTube video player (seeking to specific times, playing, pausing).

• Read the current timestamp of the video when you set a cue. This interaction happens directly within your browser on the YouTube page. No data about the videos you watch or the cues you set is collected or transmitted by the extension. Keystroke detection is limited solely to activating extension features on YouTube pages.

Website Content Interaction: The Extension reads the current timestamp from the YouTube video player (part of the website content) when setting cues and interacts with the video element to control playback as part of its core function.

User Activity Interaction: The Extension detects specific Numpad key presses on YouTube pages solely to trigger its sampling and control features. It does not perform general keystroke logging or monitor other user activity.

Permissions:

• storage: Required to save your settings locally on your device.

• Content Script on YouTube: Required to interact with the YouTube player and detect necessary key presses on YouTube pages.

Personal Information: The Extension does not collect, store, transmit, or share any personally identifiable information.

Remote Code: The Extension loads the 'Orbitron' font from Google Fonts for styling purposes within its own panel UI only. No other remote code is executed.

Data Handling Certifications: The Extension adheres to the following Chrome Web Store policies:

• It does not sell or transfer user data to third parties, except for approved use cases outlined by Google (none apply here beyond the font loading).

• It does not use or transfer user data for purposes unrelated to its single purpose (providing YouTube sampling functionality).

• It does not use or transfer user data to determine creditworthiness or for lending purposes.

Changes to This Policy: We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We encourage you to review it periodically.
